I do think HMRC could have set up a row of booths at the farmer's protests. I hate to say it but Labour does have a comms issue. I heard (sources) they're terrified to stand up and say anything to counter the red top rubbish, they'd actually rather let it rumble on.

They have no control over it. It’s driven by clickbait & social media now, in addition to have gotten used to the constant chaos of the decline of the tories post 2020. Labour need to up their social media game & find a way to circumvent the media, I’d suggest a Covid style weekly press conference.

They are doing more on line but the danger with that is the abuse/death threat’s they get. It’s a really toxic environment, better here but even that’s sliding ever downwards. As individuals we can just block, but if a politician blocks somebody they get accused of running scared or ignoring views.

…cash. Most of the right wing blowhards operate in outlets where there tends to be far more money who are quite happy to take a loss to enhance the overall message.I suspect more liberal commentators look over in the envy ,and I don’t think it’s a stretch to think they want some of that.

Absolutely. It needs a lot of regulation, but it’s a controversial issue and not one a govt with 25% polling can probably get away with!

I think social media needs to change its business model which tbh isn’t going to happen, not without a real fight anyway.Better oversight would perhaps rein in some he worst excesses but it’s going to be a long struggle.

I'm hoping so, though no evidence so far, maybe he needs a while to settle in.
