Oh my gosh , not saying they save time…..was saying they aren’t idling the whole time. If you are first in line , you’re sitting there with your engine off for five hours, or for most of that time. Not any less ridiculous.

Are you sure? Because you probably are doing things on the phone, getting stuffy in the car, etc. I used to teach after school at an elementary school and cars were idling for literal hours before the final bell. I would not put it past 10:30am Parent to do the same.
