Yeah, minor things like that. Given that 80% + and of all rare earth and other unexploited minarals in Ukraine are in currently occupied territory, any profits for the US will require kicking out the Russians.

I mean, just having US business in UKR will largely shrink battlefields. Those are "passive" guarantees, or I think UKR is hoping they will be, as the US is well known for protecting its own interests. Since UKR will not be exploited, I think it's a good start.

I'm not sure the deal is really exploitive. Big caveat, I have of course not seen the details of the deal. But from the look of it, US will basically get an option to invest, and from any gains they make, they need to pay 50 % to Ukraine.

Everything Ukraine is already pulling out of the ground, oil, gas, coal, ore, is excluded from the deal. US get nothing for that, only new stuff. US need to invest in Ukraine and then pay on their gains. Just like with Mexico and Canada, Trump seems to have failed at the actual negotiations.

I've seen different maps, putting most of the unexploited, potential rare earth findings in Ukraine in the northeastern Ukraine, around Kharkiv and down to Donetsk. But I have no indepth knowledge. The map you showed may very well be more correct.

There was one map circling where someone has mixed up minerals with rare earth elements, and yeah, it was east focused. Donets is almost 100% coal, with some iron deposits down south around Zaporozia region
