POLITICO Europe @politico.eu

With a heavy dose of Realpolitik, European leaders have rapidly learned to work with Donald Trump. There's no greater proof of that than in the response to the US president's announcement that the US will indirectly provide weapons for Ukraine.

You can't negotiate with an irrational actor. Any agreement can be reversed, forgotten, or changed an hour later.

I get the working with TACO short term to a point. But it has internal ramifications, the UK has to expose Reform for the nasty Quisling Party that it is. But strategically, is there any reason to think that MAGA is going to be different post-TACO?

If ever there was a House of Cards, it is the current administration in Washington - soon to come tumbling down

With American arms sales down, the pressure from the military/industrial complex had to be immense. Fawning over a wanna-be dictator was unnecessary because a work-around was already established.

A work around is never established with this administration. Trump, Hegseth, Colby, Miller or almost anybody can mess it up at any time.

Established: Accepted and recognized by many people. Fawning: excessive flattery to avoid future trauma. Kissing Trump's ass is bad policy and won't work because that pig will eat your pearls just before he turns on you.

Ultimately Trump is a problem for Americans. Europeans have no upside in getting involved in American domestic lawlessness. Americans should sort it out. It’s not on Rutte or anyone else to give a shit about US self-created clown show.

If pandering to his ego and manipulating him gets a result for his constituents, good for him. It mainly seems American commentators being salty. Rutte isn’t there ti save you. He’s there to defend Europe (and Ukraine.)

It's not a work around, it is extortion typical Trump style: Enable Putin by talking with him, lifting some sanctions on banks, stalling new sanctions. Putin escalates freely his invasion of Ukraine. Europe has no other choice right now. Because defense was not ramped up since 3 years.

What? He will sell weapons the EU has to pay for .. is everyone blind? EU politicians are basically paid US assets - must be the most corrupt organisation on the planet.
