POLITICO Europe @politico.eu

France wants the EU to take a tougher approach to tariff negotiating with Donald Trump, because capitulating would make Europe look weak, French officials told POLITICO.

The EU thanks to @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu and @ec.europa.eu already looks weak, not having responded to the 10% import tariffs in the US on most EU produced good.

Basically, Trump’s tariffs and threats amount to extortion. Good faith deals can’t/won’t be made. Everything with this man is transactional. He doesn’t care about the damage he’s creating. Why are countries playing this game?

“That’s an interesting take—do you think other countries are playing along because they feel they have no better option, or because they think they can outmaneuver him in the long run? It seems like some governments try to wait him out while others adapt to the unpredictability.

I truly believe, they think they can outmaneuver him. Seriously, think out his spring debacle. As soon as the bond market started to crack, he reversed course. Japan and Canada own the largest shares of US Bonds. They have more clout than people give them credit for. If they start selling off…

US yields can spike uncontrollably, and the Fed would be forced into a corner. That’s what people don’t know it’s not just about domestic inflation or unemployment anymore. It’s about global confidence. If Japan even hint at reducing exposure, the ripple effect can unravel half the market structure.

Here here. The Trump Regime is out to weaken and threaten a strong and free Europe. Since the U.S. has abandoned that role, Europe must grow to fill it. Stand for freedom, the rule of law, and honoring shared commitments signed by our governments. Trump is not king of the world!

Unfortunately Europes economt at the moment cant risk anything and not being a federal state but a group of 27 power hungry countries, trump has his trojan horses in (Meloni, Orban) and they won't accept a trade war with the US. France should stop blocking the mercosur deal as well

I just heard Donald Trump say that Europe "wanted to make a deal very badly" and nobody makes deals as badly as him.
