He is right but the "deal" leaves lot of ways to "retaliate" the 🍊💩moron
An Actual Breaking Headline would be to report on Jean-Luc Melenchon’s statement since nobody cares what Macron thinks.
I like Melenchon but he is not very relevant right now in terms of making policy in France since he is not in government and holds only very limited power in parliament. So respectfully what Melenchon has to say about EU policy does not matter very much, whereas what current leader Macron says does.
Sorry but this is a cynical political stunt prolonging the genocide. If we are serious about ending the bloodshed we should take the NFP position on Gaza seriously. If we are fine being entertained by le petit roi, we have to be willing to face the Gazans who will die due the lack of real action.
The EU is currently failing on the topic of Gaza and holding Israel to account for its crimes and that is shameful, but this is unrelated to the economic agreement between the US and EU which is the topic of this thread.
My apologies, you are absolutely correct. But strangely enough, my criticism of Macron and his media amplifiers equally applies to this topic. Given how banker Macron presided over the biggest transfer of wealth to the rich, talking about the strength of Europe recalls the delusions of Louis XVI.
And he’s right.
Indeed, the headlines are not great. But ... "When you fight with a pig, you both get dirty (but the pig likes it)." And when reality kicks in, the USA will NOT be the universal beneficiary. A good read (or listen) is this: @pkrugman.bsky.social arguments: newrepublic.com/article/1985...
Politically disastrous.
Should have threatened to sell off US treasuries too.
He’s not wrong. It’s a shitty deal, even worse than the U.K. one. Which is also shitty.
That's what he says politely. France in general thinks that VDL has sold out Europe to German manufacturers.
Figured that no country would sink its own economy. Trump’s just on a fools errand. Meanwhile because nobody sticking up for average people we’re about to drown under the weight of his stupidity
It’s not even a deal until they vote on it. Let’s face it, there really isn’t a deal.
He’s should know, the French are world renowned for their capitulations… 😆😂🤣
How long has it been since the USA won a war? 1945. Yet you are almost always at war. A little humility... As things stand, France will not validate this agreement. The 27 must agree.
I can see most of your posts are in French. You’re welcome! ☺️
Of course I'm french. I'm proud to be french.
Correct!
Nail on the head. EC was too easily bullied by the orange madman
The EU, like the rest of the world, should have hit back like for like. If Trump followed through with the escalations then we’d see how long the US would be able to remain as the only country in the world facing infinite tariffs everywhere. The lesson would be learned.
Is Macron running to replace Von der Leyen?
I hope so. We can use a true statesman in the EU.
Von der Leyen is limited by the small amount of actual power her job gives her. Macron would face those limits too.

That's why you would have someone like Draghi instead of Von der Leyen
Macron standing strong while UK and Germany fold..
More and more... this is a true leader for the European Union. He was right before (when he spoke of Europe's strategic autonomy) and he is right now!
Really disappointing . The EU failed to follow Canada's assertive lead, missing the opportunity to form a powerful coalition that Trump could not have resisted .
Our EU leaders have abandoned us in the tariff war with the deep state. Well, we as citizens can put the deep state back in its place. We did it with Tesla. If one in five Europeans stops buying goods from the deep state, that's the equivalent of a 20% tariff. That should be feasible. Who's in?
