JD's a convert I think, so he knows as much about Catholicism as he does about anything else, which is to say nothing. He switched religions like he switched names (though his mom switched his name 1X or 2X way back when). I don't think any religion is a plus for him because he follows none.
We know all he is a show pony. I just think he will feel like he needs to prove something.
When it finally comes out that Trump had pretty severe dementia at the same time Vance was calling him "a genius," what he'll have to prove is that he's not a total idiot himself, which will be impossible, because he is. An ambitious idiot, but naive, arrogant, and poised for a fall.
Vance is a puppet, custom-fitted to the hand of one Peter Thiel. His job is to go on one vacation after another - and otherwise take up space and waste time - until Thiel decides it's finally time to snatch Trump offstage. Once Vance is installed, though, it's Thiel who'll be running the country.

Because Thiel has done such a good job of staying in the shadows, I wonder how effective he'll be at pulling anybody's strings. Like Vance, he's got no network, no support. Yes, Thiel may put Vance in the WH, but then I think the whole MAGA house of cards falls, Repubs pretend it never happened.
Thiel's an off-stage manipulator; the more he stays out of the public eye, the more he gets away with. A tool like Vance makes a good front man; sadly for Thiel, Vance is incredibly clumsy and inept - both socially and politically. And because Thiel's openly gay, he has NO friends in the MAGA crowd.
Right! I forgot about Thiel being gay. If only he were a child rapist, he'd have a lot of friends in MAGA circles.
