Most people receiving public funds work. Your tax dollars subsidize companies like Walmart that pay just $7.25 hr., forcing workers to rely on SNAP and Medicaid. Poverty also leads to illness and early death. A start is raising minimum wage, disproportionately affecting women and racialized workers.

I understand what you are saying. I know how little people get paid in the USA, and the struggle effects forward from that. But to have farmland and get paid to not produce seems to be a different angle specifically. They are not working for min wages. They own their farms, equipment etc.

It all about corporate greed. Who benefits? Trump’s policies enabled another form of corporate welfare. Bayer and Monsanto pay Ontario family farms not to plant, forcing reliance on GMO crops from non-family-owned farms.Other presidents too have been guilty. Profits for some at expense of others.

Agree with it all. Will be interesting to see if policy can change. The whole seed thing just fucks me off.

Not sure where you are in Canada but Monsanto/Bayer goes around paying family farms not to plant. Destroying family farms. It sickens me.

Seeds can be under WTO and TRIPS legislation which give corporations control, limiting heritage seeds- affecting quality of food, health— Europe and South Korea avoid some our produce. Corn is genetically modified for food, oil, or to enhance gasoline.People buy organic while pesticide is in seed.
