I feel like it's leaving a pretty big mark in fire-prone states. Pulling someone *off the line*? Stopping the whole crew in the process? It makes me feel like they want the West Coast to burn, frankly. It makes me worry about state inspired arson. It makes me think about how they killed FEMA.

Agreed. Unknown how fire started, or most likely human started. It sure feels intentional.

Arson is sadly more common than people realize but even without intent, humans are terrible at not lighting shit on fire. Caldor - dipshits firing incendiary rounds (they basically got off in court.) The gender reveal fire. PG&E not powering down lines -> Camp Fire. Town leveled, 80+ dead. Cigs?

But I seriously worry about deliberate ideological arson. Not pathological arsonists but MAGA-driven ecoterrorism, for so many reasons. Here's one: when assorted Shasta fires were going, local anti-gov militias were offering community support while running recruiting drives. That terrifies me.

Ha, thank you. I've had to evacuate for a week before. It feels really real after something like that. I've got to plug the completely free and incredibly informative service WatchDuty. It's a resource created by people who fight fires and it shows. Mostly West Coast atm. www.watchduty.org
