I have an absurdly specific question and am hoping my savior is here somewhere. If you a) have written a book b) are left-handed Can you please tell me what kind of pen you used to sign books? I have to sign a bunch soon and am terrified of smearing but want something bolder than ballpoint. :(
I won an expensive Mont Blanc pen that I intended to use, but decided it was too valuable to lose, so I just use a Parker pen. The problem is not with the pen, it's having to open the book wide enough to write without cracking the spine🤔
I like the 1 mm Pentel Energel pens—not as thick as a sharpie, just right. (Not a lefty but I hate smears.) Good luck with your book launch!

Not a writter - but write a lot and hate smearing. Papermate InkJoy. It's not perfect, but its the best I found so far. I also press a piece of parchment paper to the side of my hand so it slide over the page without dragging.
The space pen also works but I don't like the feel of it as crazy as that sounds.

I am a longtime fan of the .4mm Sharpie felt tip. If the book you'll be signing has glossy-ish paper like some of mine have had, they're the best I've found, and zero issue on more porous paper. Even thicker Sharpies have smeared on the glossier paper.

I'm not who you asked for, but I used a good gel pen when I took the bar. A few years back so I don't remember what kind, but I do remember it was very important to me! Went to the store and tried them all out to find the best one. It must not have smeared or I'm sure I would still have nightmares.

I use a fountain pen, but I think it has less to do with the pen/ink and more to do with having learned over the years to hold my hand in a way that doesn’t smear easily—good luck!!!
I am both of those things! I just try to hold the pen so my hand doesn't touch the page--signatures don't have to look legible per se! (I have used whatever pen someone has shoved at me/that I haven't lost lol)
