Yeah, ACIP now has people who are inexperienced at best and anti-vaccine at worst. They are likely going to restrict Covid vaccine recommendations (possibly more than they are now?) They could also start to take up other vaccines

Given how many people just left the CDC... I'm assuming it's going to be bad. (That's what Sen. Cassidy is saying.)

Here's what they're going to be discussing: "Recommendation votes may be scheduled for COVID-19 vaccines, Hepatitis B vaccine, MMRV vaccine, and RSV. Vaccines for Children (VFC) may be scheduled for COVID-19 vaccines, Hepatitis B vaccine, MMRV vaccine, and RSV."

Nearly positive they are going to remove approval for MMRV for those 12 months - 3 years (which is dumb, it’s already not routinely recommended but useful in some situations) and perhaps they will consider removing HepB birth dose (also a dangerous idea)

Especially useful during outbreaks!

Does it seem likely that Cassidy's recommendation to completely ignore ASIP will move the needle on anything?

I'm not sure! Some senators are calling for hearings, so that could potentially affect things. Outside organizations, like AAP, are also offering their own recommendations, which could affect doctors' decisions.

A friend said they just asked their doctor if it would be possible to get a covid vax prescription, and the doctor said impossible, because pfizer doesn't even want to ship them, and I'm like... is that for real?

Some doctors have trouble ordering one brand or another. It depends on their distributor. Afaik neither Pfizer nor Moderna has shipped yet, but they should within days.

Generally the pharmacies don't set dates for distribution unless they have product in hand, I thought. Within days, as you say, would not get them here in time to satisfy appointments set.

No, chain pharmacies have been offering appointments in hopes of getting vaccines out as soon as they arrive. If vaccines haven't shipped yet, they cancel the appointment.
