If you need to think about it before answering "rich", you are not paying attention and are a fool.

Don't forget we pay for his healthcare and golf trips.
How many paid days off you get in the states? Here in the Netherlands workers get 5 weeks paid off.
0. We do not have government mandated time off on a federal level, and I can't name a state that does, though they may exist. Some salaried jobs *might* have pto, that may include sick time. The only garauntee we get is if we have a qualifying reason, we can take unpaid FMLA for retaining your job.
Huh? Do I get you right, sick days aren’t payed?
Usually not. Some employers offer 2,3 or if you're lucky 5 days each AFTER working 1year. You loose your job after 3 days without a Dr. note. MAYBE, 5 vacation DAYS after 1year. MAYBE, 5 additional DAYS after 2 or 3 ADDITIONAL years.
The other commenter is right about hourly work. Sick time/regular is usually unpaid. Salaried work usually has at least sick time and a small amount of pto. Jobs with more usually don't separate sick from pto. It's a bank accumulated over time. No job is required to provide it paid, some just do.
*lucky hourly work. Some salaried positions do what they said as well.
Isn't he golfing?
Supposedly....
I left the UK with 32 days paid holiday a year. Arrived in the USA to be told 'holiday?...
They didn't understand "holiday" it's called vacation in US. Aaaannnnddd, you will NEVER get 32 days of vacation if you worked 25+years with the same company.
I moved back to the UK to retire happily ever after!
