The Maester prologues introduce us to some of the epic, important locations and in Westeros. Dragonstone is the seat of Targaryan power. Oldtown is the home of the Faith, the Maesters, and of the richest family in Westeros the Hightowers.

So *when* we get winds of winter this year, who will be narrating the prologue, another maester? And from where?
Yes great question. When Winds comes out this year, the prologue will be written by a maester or someone connected to the Citadel. It will be set in one of the major locations of the realm we haven’t yet been to. Mayhaps… - Casterly Rock or Lannisport - Highgarden - Storms End
Other potential settings, less “major city” and more “major plot point” - Starfall - ruins of Summerhall - Tower of Joy (present day) - Lys, Tyrosh, Myr - Gulltown
OH. the fucking dreadfort.
Starfall would be very cool, but also the fucking dreadfort! The fandom can always count on you!!
The long tenured Starfall maester reflects on his complicity in faking the deaths of Ashara and Arthur, then Darkstar comes in, steals Dawn, and runs over the maester with his horse on the way out.
Now that would be an interesting chapter!
Also, where are Ashara and Arthur? Ashara could be at grey water watch…but Arthur? Idk
Arthur could have been Qhorin Halfhand (rip) or have become a faceless man. (Almost zero evidence for either)
Yeah I don’t buy into any of those, not a fan of that tinfoil universe
