The Maester prologues introduce us to some of the epic, important locations and in Westeros. Dragonstone is the seat of Targaryan power. Oldtown is the home of the Faith, the Maesters, and of the richest family in Westeros the Hightowers.

Yes great question. When Winds comes out this year, the prologue will be written by a maester or someone connected to the Citadel. It will be set in one of the major locations of the realm we haven’t yet been to. Mayhaps… - Casterly Rock or Lannisport - Highgarden - Storms End
