Casey Means is a grifter who dropped out of ENT residency to start a company selling glucose monitors to non-diabetics & a “health app.” She doesn’t know basic science concepts, yet claims she’s a metabolism expert. Incomplete ENT residency ≠ expert. Of course she’s put up for Surgeon General.

Without getting into details, going just by message, she got her MD fair and square. It sounds like she at least did one year of training in surgery, and quit some time when doing her chosen profession, ears nose and throat (ENT)
One of the ways the media fails us is that it never points out that a doctor is not a doctor is not a doctor. Like you would never go to a urologist for sinus problems just like you would never go to ENT for bladder problems
The good ones admit what they don’t know (a good urologist straight up tells you they don’t know anything about the sinuses). Similarly, she might have some knowledge about general surgery and ENT, but she would’ve never have had any training in metabolism

You look at both his nominees and his list of "qualifications" is clear: 1. Pretty girl 2. Iffy medical history 3. Pushes quack medicine 4. Into "homeopathics"
Also, her father was Nelson Rockefeller's assistant & many Trump supporters have some sorta issue with the Rockefeller Family so there could be trouble ahead for her. The ineptitude & weirdness of the Trump Administration is all encompassing.

After her Caribbean med school…
She went to Stanford Medical School! Another entry in “credentials aren’t everything.” (And there are many fine graduates of Caribbean med schools, though her predecessor as surgeon general nominee certainly isn’t one of them!)
Yeah I was thinking of the first one. I have to disagree about the Caribbean med schools though. I’ve worked with a few of their products and seen two as a patient, forgot to check their credentials first and deeply regretted it.
Fast track, not enough time to learn properly, emphasis os speed, low quality cohort. I’ve found them consistently poor providers with bad attitude.

I disagree. In order to even get into medical school, one has to know basic science concepts. I would be more interested in knowing what medical school and residency appointment she had. And her grades & ranking.

She began her Residency at Oregon Health & Science University but dropped out to sell a "pseudoscientific functional medicine" lifestyle with supplements to address "metabolic dysfunction" but she's hardly Deepak Chopra & lacks any real bone fides in the area. Her license is currently inactive.
My dad once told me that if he had made the political push early enough, as an ex-military doctor who worked for a time in some of the gov't's most prestigious hospitals Surgeon General wouldn't have been out of reach for him. Thought he was bragging a bit, but if Means can do it, my dad was a lock.
Why is there nothing anywhere saying you have to know the job, be competent in the job? I can do better at any of these jobs than these fuckers

There are many reasons a MD/DO may not have completed a medical residency. But I do think it is deceitful for people like Casey Means and Jay Bhattacharya to tout their physician credentials without having completed residency, and never holding full medical licenses.
For those interested, in order to get a medical degree you have to pass at least a semester of biochemistry, microbiology/immunology, histology, anatomy, and multiple semesters in pathology.
You also complete a few weeks-months of clinical training internal medicine, family medicine, surgery, neurology, pediatrics, OB/GYN, and psychiatry. And have to pass at least 2 standardized exams. Additionally you do electives in your desired field.
Oops forgot to mention pharmacology in med school as well, have been relying on my Pharmacists buddies for too long lol
Residency is an additional 3-8ish years of training to prepare you for clinical/ surgical practice and is required to be fully licensed physician. Some people also do 1-4 years of fellowship after residency.
Never mind apparently you can get licensed in many cases with just one year of residency training 😬

I was worried she was going to be HHS secretary early on. Either way, putting someone with an actual medical degree at the helm will worsen the situation. The argument against RFK Jr. never should have been his lack of formal education. It's not that simple.
