Oh God, this debate is constant in MLB whenever there's a dispute between players and owners. People look at, say, Ohtani and assume every player is making that type of money and then take the side of the OWNERS over "those greedy players". I had someone compare the MLBPA to cops unions! COPS!

It’s dumb enough to do this with people making 6 figures in a major city but it’s significantly worse to say it about people making an amount that leaves no wiggle room just bc you aren’t stuck eating canned hobo beans for every meal

It's even worse with the NFLPA, the weakest union in pro sports. Those guys see Lamar Jackson's much smaller contract and leap to the same conclusions. Meanwhile, most NFL careers end in fewer than 3 years and leave these guys with lifelong injuries.
