Yes let’s reward them all for coming into this country illegally. That wouldn’t be a slap in the face to every natural citizen or legal immigrant.

Perhaps you've misconstrued what is being said here, my friend. No one here advocated that.
Yes. But also, as a naturalized citizen myself, I'd rather they got housing or education than be put in jail. It's a no brainer. Could the money be used in other ways? Sure. But the way they are using it currently is the worst.
So again you’d rather reward people for breaking the law, encouraging more people to try and come here and take advantage. But I wouldn’t keep them here either in jail, plane tickets to Mexico are much cheaper.
Alas, my point has been lost on many readers.
I’m pretty sure I got it. You are saying alligator Alcatraz is a waste of money. I agree we should just send them in a plane back over the border they now can’t breach. What am I missing?
Among other things (like empathy), understanding due process rights, that a bunch of these folks are legally in US. For those who aren't: the fact that big sectors of the US economy are dependent on this labor - good luck with those food prices. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
