I just think the proposition that if you overstay you will be asked to leave is a pretty unarguable one? Otherwise why have time limits on visas at all.

If the resources are there to send a letter before visa expiry, it's not unreasonable to expect that letter to contain useful information about future paths and possibilities. If it's just a veiled threat, why do it at all? Do we think students don't know when their visas expire?

In my experience all foreigners are *painfully* aware of that date.

…and of how it might randomly change, which you only find out about on social media. If you’re lucky.

there's hundreds of pages of rules in appendix FM & multiple additional rules elsewhere for every part of the spouse visa, but only a small finite number of time-related "do x or y if date x or y". any excuse made for them not adding a handful of dates matching the BRP/evisa doesn't wash imo

Why have time limit on visas indeed. Does *not* make any sense.

So you are one of those "rules are rules" guy who is just thoughtlessly deferential to whatever the government says Okay that's a position, not a tenable one but it is one

No i’m not. I’m just commenting on the initial post. If it was about the inequalities and injustices within our system i would have posted on that. But it wasn’t.

Is it really controversial that if you overstay your visa you will be asked to leave? Does the opjnion that that is a logical position to take within the current system require some sort of expert analysis? Really?

The fact that you’re running interference for this policy at the same time your Home Secretary is saying she might house asylum seekers in warehouses is absurd and offensive
