You see the dilemma: be a rubber stamp so to preserve the prospect that adverse rulings would be obeyed, or refuse to be a rubber stamp even just once and reveal just how illusory the Court’s power has always been. The Roberts Court brought this upon itself and our democracy is suffering for it.
