@gresselgustav.bsky.social rightly writes that Europe must decide whether to show its teeth in Ukraine and thus possibly influence Russia's calculations for a war of aggression beyond Ukraine, or whether to stick to empty rhetoric.

The latter will reinforce Moscow's impression that no significant resistance is to be expected once the US is no longer a protective power. Showing our teeth would therefore not only benefit Ukraine, but is also in our own best interests.

Europe must finally stop wagging its tail at Trump's every move. This is all the more true because it is clear that next week's meeting between Trump and Putin is not a peace negotiation, but rather a criminal conspiracy to throw Ukraine under the bus.
