So folks, I've been on here a few weeks, and it strikes me that: 1) K12 content is like a needle in a haystack. 2) Nothing gets much engagement. Is that fair?

There are quite a few ed folks here, and it's easy to create feeds just of them (like lists on Twitter). Not exactly sure what you would call "engagement" - if I have a question, I'll get some responses, but not anywhere near as many as I would during Twitter's heyday.
Thanks Larry!
I partially agree. Not super distinguishable from Twitter in my experience at this point, but it's deterioriated considerably over there. Definitely somewhat different content here, though also you need to get on and follow relevant starter packs to get the content and engagement.
Yup, OK, thanks Paul

Yes. I haven't found this site to have much professional value (certainly nowhere near what value Twitter provided at its peak). I think it's approximately on par with LinkedIn for me right now. Are you still on Twitter? Is there anything useful over there?
Thanks Morgan. Yeah, some days Twitter is pretty active. It certainly leans more to the right than it used to, but there are plenty of others engaging too.
I've thought about this for the weekend. A few thoughts: 1) I get fewer (so far zero!) death/rape threats here. 2) The K–12 starter packs helped link me up to a broader field of ppl. 3) Engagement w/my (admittedly idiosyncratic) K–12 views was way down on Twitter also (b/c of political shifts)
I actually really like LinkedIn. There's not the same real-time back and forth, but people post useful research and reports daily. On here, the only stuff that really takes off could be considered (in the most affectionate way) resistance-lib posting.
I will try LinkedIn. Thanks Anya!
But! I do find Bluesky works for breaking news. I got on the ground reports from S. Korea, and video Brad Lander's detention while it was still in progress.
I think LinkedIn is better for getting consistent engagement from a few hundred people who are highly in my professional network, while this is better for engagement from normal people out there on social media who've never met before.
Makes sense, thanks Kevin
My 2 cents: any social media platform is only as good as the effort you put in. I engage with lots of K-12 folks on here. If you don't put in the time to find and engage with folks, you don't build up a reliable network. LinkedIn is not great for me, but I only visit occasionally. That's on me.
Yeah, it’s hard to get K-12 stuff to a wide audience. Higher ed seems to do better but I think a lot of that is self-interest (lots of academics on here),
Yup lots of higher ed talk for sure. Of course, there's a lot of higher ed news these days!
