The press seems to have conflated the aphorism of "it's not the crime, it's the coverup" with "it's not a crime UNLESS there's a cover-up". The Republicans and Trump do most of their criming in the open now, so the press just goes along and says "Masterful gambit, sir!"
Perfectly stated. He has twisted the mainstream press into the most effective propaganda organ ever devised. Literally no one beyond a small cohort of independent press outlets is coming close to telling the truth about what he is doing to this country. And he’s utterly transparent about it!

Unspeakably shitty at their jobs. You know what's dramatic? Pushing through $2 TRILLION via ARPA to keep local governance from imploding six weeks into a Presidency with a 50/50 Senate. You have to suck extra hard as storyteller and as a news reporter to miss that.
i think about this paradigm a lot in Trump 2.0: the Qatari jet, the bitcoin heist, the Apple plaque... not to mention other questionable EO's and institutional harassment... i guess it's okay if it's public knowledge!!
