Beautiful. When I think of Watkins Glen, I think of The Allman Brothers, The Grateful Dead and The Band. I never knew this beautiful place was there.

The Band’s “Music from Big Pink” (a pink house) was recorded no far from where I grew up in The Catskills. I knew where the house was. I saw them play in a small place in New Paltz. Super cool.

This has been a long time favorite of mine after accidentally discovering during an IMSA weekend at the Glen in the 80’s. Though relevantly short a most beautiful walk.

My favorite park to visit when I was a kid, went every summer. If you like water and cliffs the Cornell campus is also great. Ithaca is gorges after all.

How is there nobody?

I always have friends visit Niagara Falls, and I tell them to go the extra 2 hours to Watkins Glen. I tell them it'll change their life. They never go. That's cool. More for me.

It is worth the drive. But I do love Niagara Falls, especially in the winter. All the ice flowing down the river. The first time I went there was when they shut it off for repairs. So I didn’t understand the enormity of that undertaking.

I came here with my husband, and it was an amazing weekend. He's a photographer, and he wanted to take a photo of one of the main waterfalls, and he had me attempt to stop people for a few seconds. It didn't seem to work. 😅

When I was a kid, in the early ‘70s, we’d head up to the Can-Am and Grand Prix races (my dad photographed for the programs, and was friends with Cameron Argetsinger, founder of the course). Mom would take us to the Glen to frolic. Utterly magical.
