I always called anything that threw back to Doom such as Serious Sam or Painkiller a 'Chunky FPS' before the Boomershooter genre name appeared.

I prefer the term "wolfendoom" or in cases of the post-Quake era: "first-person shoot-n-jumper" (any other bunnyjumpers here?)

doomquakes sounds like a particularly gassy illness. "I've got the doomquakes at work, I'm so embarrassed" I think nothing genre-wise puts more of a bee in my bonnet than "metroidbrainia" though, truly just the worst thing to call one of my favorite genres.
