Was it as big a deal as it was at this side of the pond? I know there was a bigger crowd in JKF stadium in Philly - but would Americans be more used to big multi star shows?

It was a huge deal. However that summer was stifling hot all across the country is my recollection- I imagine that kept some crowds at bay. People were passing out in Philadelphia.

The stadium looked more open than Wembley which was more a fully enclosed one. That being said, neither is still standing today - both demolished and rebuilt

Definitely a huge thing where I was growing up in the US Midwest…everyone I knew watched it, I was in front of the TV all day for it. Big Duran Duran fan at that age. 😀
