fwiw i do believe that games shouldn't be valued solely on their runtime, but "80 hour game" was just shorthand for describing the scope & budget of silksong. i so wholly envy team cherry quietly making their game for 7 years without any financial pressure. who wouldn't want that??

FWIW, the effect Team Cherry has succeeding at scale like this is a tiny drop in the bucket compared to just about any other free to play or loss leader game sales strategy out there. Once upon a time Minecraft was worth $15, and then became $60 worth of game over time. A rough road we're on.
