OH MY GOD THIS STUDY HOLY WOW* *First instance of matrilineal power structures in Neolithic using genomic data, it is amazing and upends our understanding of gender roles during the time www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

It looks great, but I’m more impressed with the Durotriges still being matrilocal in the Iron Age.

Perhaps an influence on the legend of the Amazons, in the myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece? Amazons fought Trojan War on Troy’s side, and Jadon had to get Golden Fleece from Georgia (ex-Colchis). Çatalhöyük looks “on the way” for Jason’s quest.* *Not a scholar, just amused by the musing.
