This scammer didn't even understand cancer treatment. Or they would have referenced needing something new and very expensive like immunotherapy or Car-T therapy ( not classic chemo).

A more general believable story: "I will die without carT therapy and the only immunotherapy center that takes Medicaid is 300 miles away. Immediately need money for transportation hotels etc" (but this requires saying USA. A problem when hospital is Spanish. ( It was in Barcelona)
Or I'll need a transplant and it's not fully covered.
For this specific scammer, yes. It was partly the posting clues but the giveaway is the photo. Where it came from, original poster's story and all.
Using the original name and id would open them up to extra fraud charges. Not using made it easy to check for fraud. But the PayPal is still up using her pictures. There's probably other places she is using it.
Yes, but that's how you discovered it. When I know someone's using someone else's photo to raise funds (for themself, not for the person who's photo it is). I block them so I don't accidentally boost them again.
That whole "I don't want to be a burden" ( Ableist Tell ) and "I just want to pay my family back before I die". Uhg. This was sick porn written for the Able. Medima would have never said that. You can tell she's unashamed and a fighter.
All of this was contradictory because they were empty sales pitches, not a cancer patient telling their story. (Which has a clear beginning. A place. A middle. A narrative in order. ) The account might have been a scam account run by multiple people.
Your points are good. Esp since you knew the source of the photo to compare. I will try to remember the pointed scammer signs. But don't assume that just because *you* have medical care that everyone does/can get it. Or that the medical insurance in "most western countries" is necessarily any good.
But I DIDN'T know the source of the photo. It required a reverse image search. You can do that in the future too. I don't ASSUME that either. < Nor should you assume I think this. > I was just kicked off Medicare and Disability last week! I'm disabled facing chronic eviction. I CHECK things.
When you are disabled and depend on a faulty system it's deadly to just assume things or blind trust. I just googled to double check whether Medicaid covers Chemo. Literally looked it up while we talked. Check again in 2027 when the Draconian Republican cuts go thru.
I even described a bunch of choke points in the system ( from time to get coverage, delays, waitlists and private cancer hospitals not taking Medicaid.) I've known friends and relatives with cancer. I described problems in nonAmerican public insurance ( waitlists. Esp for specialists).
Who didn't do that, IS the scam post. Because they are a tourist. They don't know these things. You shouldn't have to play "fill in the blanks" with what you think , because someone is deliberately vague. That's a scam technique.
Probably a scam technique, very true. Sometimes it's a language issue. Google translate isn't always as good as it's cracked up to be. But yes, deliberately vague is usually a scam technique and when I'm not working on autopilot, I'll pay more attention.
I am an old, tired, retired, technically-incompetent person who boosts folks in need. If you need to be boosted b/c kicked off Disability & Medicare, either tag me or reply in my Mutual Aid thread & I'll boost you too.
That would be great. There is no shame in being old or not knowing stuff A reverse image search lets you instantly search by picture. On mobile android it's as easy as press on image ( right click) search on Google lens. Google has 2 different services to do this. images.google.com And
O missing post. Lens.google.com You can right click on any image, Open in new tab/ window Copy url www...
Example, your picture is cdn.bsky.app/img/avatar/p...
And under "post image link" We get www.google.com/search?vsrid...
Thank. It's not likely to happen. Short-term memory. And I really don't like or trust google. But I'll note it down and see if I can do it when I've recognized some of the red flags in a request post.
Just get me a post w/ your details (how much & links to send it). I will be sorry you need it but happy to boost it. I don't have a mobile & google confuses the heck out of me even if I trusted it. I don't have an online account that wasn't created for me by a tech-savvy kid. LOL. But thank you.
