MAGA is all about public perception and psychological warfare. Gavin and his team have been using tactics to resist against this, something MAGA has been able to do freely and affects millions negatively on a daily basis.

Great, the DNC can use those same static with someone who is bringing actual policy proposals to the table, or use Newsom as a foil. He doesn't have to be the nominee in order to be useful.
