Lakers got one first for Luka Doncic & the Grizzlies are getting FOUR unprotected firsts AND a swap for *checks notes* Desmond Bane??
Lakers got one first for Luka Doncic & the Grizzlies are getting FOUR unprotected firsts AND a swap for *checks notes* Desmond Bane??
How does anyone afford Giannis at these prices?
Do you know that Anthony Davis exists
Part of the value of this trade for the Magic is getting off bad salary, no? That’s worth 1.5 first round picks, I think. But I agree—makes the Luka trade seem even crazier!
KCP’s deal isn’t good but I wouldn’t flag it as bad but I get the sentiment
WTF is Orlando doing?!
At least they got 1st overall = Cooper Flagg. Still ripped off though
Don’t do this shit. It’s lazy and pathetic.
Well, Bane is a much better defender.
Memphis should flip KCP and Anthony for two firsts of any kind for this to be a good deal. Brooklyn. Milwaukee, Washington, or Sacramento could be good trade partners. Ja has to stay healthy as well, and the young Grizzlies in the backcourt must be productive.
That’s an overpay. Bane is good but he is properly paid at $35+ Mill (20+% of the cap) per year. Can’t give up so much draft capital for a player that doesn’t come cheap.
Durant gonna get the Suns a HAUL
Kevin Durant is many years older than Desmond Bane
Durant just went 26/6/4. Whatevs
Durant can’t move on defense since his injury. He’s only leading a team to a ring if they have a lotttt of cover for him
Every team looking to trade for him has cover.
I’m not super down on any team acquiring him, it’s still Durant, but trying to hide KD on defense in the playoffs is not something you have to leave out is all I’m saying
You’re not wrong, but expecting him to be able to do that and perform at a playoff level on defense is questionable, especially for extended durations. One of the greatest to ever do it tho
I think it's pretty well known that Desmond Bane shows up for training camp in much better shape than Luka Doncic. That's probably worth two number one picks right there.
make it make sense.
That package wasn’t getting you Anthony Davis
That’s too much for someone like Bane. Decent player, but not worth that kind of package.
Has this happened?
ok I meant the Mavs got one first***
The Luka deal was so bad your mistake didn’t even jump out to me.
But, how many of those 4 picks were needed to get off $55M of Anthony and KCP? If it's 1 or 2, then you're getting Bane for 2-3 1st rounders and a swap.
Some of those picks must be a tax for taking on KCP and Cole’s salaries. But good god that is a lot of picks.
Where the hell is the edit feature? Come on Bluesky we’re all just human.
…along with a top 10-15 player in AD?
It’s madness. I’m not sure if the Magic knew who they were trading for at this point. 🥴
Not sure the Magic are a well run org...
This is what things cost these days, Bridges went for 5 firsts. Doncic trade was just malpractice from Nico the moron Harrison lol
Bridges trade was dumb as well. Doncic was silly, but giving up that many picks for players who aren't even All Stars is silly. Picks = chances at great players + low priced contracts.
I tend to agree despite how much I like the fit, though I think Bane is very close to an all star. I will say if the experiment works for the Magic the picks may not be all that juicy, though it’s possible to hit on a late first
Bane is really good, but not worth that haul of picks + the players, nor does he solve their PG and offense initiation issues. I don't know their overall contract situation, are they trying to free up money? Is this the Magic's only move?
No there’s definitely another move or two to be made. I still think the front office is banking on paolo and franz helping those initiation moves, or another playmaker is on the way. Bane does greatly help the shooting and keeps up the defense though
Yeah, there’s nobody else available who plays defense and is a great playmaker and shooter. Bane already does a decent job as a secondary playmaker and plays defense. Trae Young? No defense and bad shooting year. Simons? Maybe the worst defender in the NBA. Garland? Better playmaker but the -D
Yeah I really want to know who this perfect point guard is that we are just neglecting to get. That’s available and doesn’t cost much more salary than Bane does (can’t afford much more). We also are not asset strapped even after this trade and can always rework the roster later
If they decided that the injuries are enough to move off of Suggs and go for a bigger swing, sure. But it’s clear they prioritized keeping him and Anthony Black. They sent out garbage in KCP and Cole Anthony and picks that will be in the 20s, besides this year and Phoenix. It’s not a fleece at all.
We KNOW KCP isn't garbage, he had a bad year on a team with multiple deficiencies. It just feels like this was their big move and I don't think it what they needed. Grizz may be dealing more players soon too.
The picks are there to offload the players. You need to attach picks to get rid of Cole Anthony and KCP, who suck and are overpaid. It’s not 4 picks for Bane straight up.
Orlando will be no worse than 4th in the east for all those picks, and Bane is a perfect fit for the team
Whatttttttt did Orlando just do?
