You say he's economically illiterate, but that implies his goal is to make Americans rich and he fails cause he's dumb. But what if the goal is to make you poor and needy? Whether intentional or not: he gains power from tanking the economy so he benefits from ruining your life.

He's talked about using tariffs to stop the rest of the world from taking advantage of the US since the 1980s. He's 79, so odds are he's simply trying to make that simplistic dream from decades ago a reality. In other words, he's just phenomenally dumb.

There's a good point. Trump really doesn't have a clue as to what the consequences of his tariffs will be. But for decades there have been right wingers that have dreamed of abolishing the income tax and replacing it with consumption taxes. For the obvious reasons. Trump likes the sound of that.

The sad part is that most ICE employees (especially the influx of new ones) are GS-5 to GS-7... which means, depending on where they are, their salaries are only like $30k-$60k. Sure, they can do OT and have other benefits... but who'd a thunk selling one's soul could be so cheap?
