That’s what I’m thinking too. I imagine a non-trivial number of GOP fall in line out of fear of being voted out or worse by Trump’s base. To lose him is to lose control over the party.

I would say this is when the Dems should, paraphrasing the Cobra Kai, strike first, strike hard, and show no mercy, but if MAGA is also getting up in arms, they'll just declare martial law and be done with it...
