Old enough to have seen this broadcast live into our rural New Zealand lounge int he 80s and distinctly remember being blown away by the creative art of it all. #MiamiVice youtu.be/-aMCzRj3Syg?...

Me too 😉
Gorgeous!
No one went out on Friday nights until after Miami Vice aired.
Yup, the streets were almost empty every Friday night from 10 to 11.
Great show. Made back in the day before GE owned NBC & promoted drumpf as a rich man when all he was & is is a monster.
We freaking tried and tried to get a GE boycott, but there just wasn't much competition for light bulbs.
Oh damn straight and the music was great. I think that’s where I first appreciated a man’s chest hair 🤭
Brilliant and very typical of Michael Mann
I always liked this one better.
That’s a cracker. What a scene.
Favorite episode in the series. Couldn’t possibly have sturdier co-stars than Bruce McGill and David Strathairn.
The best show ever hands-down. There never has been another show cool like Miami Vice.
Me too. Somehow, it was the first time I ever heard that song. I had it on VHS and watched it over and over and over.
We were glued to our seats every Friday for this show. Core childhood memories were made
And we all knew when to turn the volume up! 🥁
My god those were great times!
I still remember from the 80s as well.
Yup, my 14y/o self was up every Friday night at 10 watching this faithfully and getting my mind blown off the stylistic visuals and music. Mom called it that "MTv Cop Show" "In The Air" was pretty much the MV anthem but this cut is my favorite music montage from the show. youtu.be/Ctt92_PorUY?...
It’s the best.
Isn’t this a great use of social media? Each of us telling other people things we enjoy. 💖
Michael Mann's hey day... awesome stuff, especially for TV at that time.
I have never seen a single episode of Miami Vice, despite having grown up in that era.
I watched pilot aged 11 on my parents’ old, 7-inch screen, black-and-white antenna tv* in their bedroom. I had to fight every moment of clear-ish image. *Also radio, which it was better suited for.
I was a young teen and stayed up late to watch this. As a 13-year-old, it was the coolest scene out of the coolest show ever.
Same here different country .
I adored MV - it was style and cool every single week. Was rocked to the core to discover Crockett and Tubbs were now... 76. 😐
Never watched that show but that is a good scene
The show come on Friday night and thankfully Friday night was the night that my parents went out Square dancing lol. God those were the days of watching forbidden television.
Wasn't he supposed to come out of that glass box in a blue suit with a red 'S' on the chest and a cape?
I've seen this clip so many times where it cuts off before the drum fill that I have Miami Vice PTSD, so I refuse to watch this for my own protection.
I loved that show. Had a huge crush on Philip Michael Thomas
One of the first US shows broadcast in Poland after the fall of communism, with Dynasty and (somewhat bizarrely) Twin Peaks-literally everyone watched them (ok my parents were not allowing 8-9 year old me to watch Lynch).
Not sure my mother knew I was watching Miami Vice either
So amazing. Loved every single episode.
Michael Mann so underrated as a director.
Every time I hear the song ‼️💯😀
A great show
Miami Vice, one of the best television series ever, Produced and directed by Michael Mann - please go see/find the 1986 movie Manhunter with William Peterson starring it’s a fabulous film youtube.com/shorts/zrxDp...
Oh yes, Manhunter was so much better than the Red Dragon. And the scene with Innagada Davita was just as memorable! I had a crush on William Peterson BAD.
In Vietnam a friend told the SMaj that his call sign was going to be Innagaddadavida. The Smaj said o hell no, so he went with Iron Butterfly.
Band of the Hand was great too.
youtu.be/7ceT8tyxtq4?...
That show spawned the coolest clothes, cars and music. Actually nothing like it has ever happened since. It definitely was a one-off.
Wow! I loved that show! I was crushing on Don Johnson so bad. Lol Everything about that show was cool. Nothing like it since.
One of the best damn police drama's EVER. Still watch it today when I can find it streaming.
Me, too. Same here.
Best use of music in a tv show ever.
cold case had decent music too
Top hits of the day were used in many of the episodes. Was great.
great show, great music! I loved everything about it.
Yup. It was definitely considered cutting edge cinematography at the time. To me, it’s timeless.
I was just shy of 10 years old when I used to watch it with my parents/siblings every week. Parents didn’t believe in ratings in the ‘80’s.
We just started re-watching MV. This scene is a thing of beauty.
It really is
I was a freshman in college in 1984 in Arizona and the common room was packed on Friday nights for MV.
Me, too!!!
… great scene, great mood
Great show! Great music, clothes, cast----just the whole vibe was cool!
The 80s encapsulated in a 3 minute clip i reckon. Payphone included
Music licensing unfortunately, at least mostly, priced out this sort of artistic genius. Amazing scene. Thanks for the throwback! 🤘
Michael Mann went on to make great movies incl. "Heat," "The Last of the Mohicans," "Ali," and "Collateral."
So much better than the actual music video
