Progress is what separates humans from animals. Animals have lived and survived the same way for centuries. A human beings deep desire, especially parents, is to progress. To leave the world better than it currently is.

Our ancestors provided electricity, running water, and penicillin so that those ahead would have it better. Paying off those loans is about making the world better for the next generation. It's not a handout. It's a hand up.
