I love the part of novel writing when you have a whole thing in front of you, and you can begin to balance people and moments. Oh right, this should go here now, and I need more of this person up front, and this stretch of time should be longer.

I love this too. I’ve frequently found the publishing industry demanding and stressful, but making the books is brilliant - and especially this part.

That does sound fun! I don't write fiction, but I'm a poet. I don't write much formal poetry, but I really enjoyed doing the pantoum I wrote b/c it has 16 lines, but they're really only 8 lines repeated in a certain pattern. So it was all about setting a few in place and then sorting out the pattern

I love finding the patterns and shapes in a work of fiction. I think reading poetry helps with this!
