everyone who is anyone in acute/emergency medicine has been saying this for years too few beds too many beds filled with people who don't need to be there but have nowhere else to go until support available but too many politicians/media commentators focus on stopping attendances

Is the message still not getting through to them? You can’t fix NHS without fixing social care. It’s money down the drain otherwise

It seems rather simplistic to suggest that the solution is just more beds or just less attendances. More beds won’t achieve much if they are immediately filled with people who can’t be discharged because the care they need in the community isn’t there or who will rebound straight back into ED.

The UK media trades in 'SHOCKER!' stories. Plus endless columnists touting simplistic 'single thing fix' solutions. And politicians have become so focussed on polls, & on 'how this plays' in said media, that 'boring' multifactorial answers/solutions don't really get a look in now. So we're stuck...
