Since the administration and its underlings are oblivious to implications, please stress how important looking down possible event cascades is to planning how to respond to impending and on-going disasters.
As RebelFEMA, I would love to hear recommendations for alert systems and how to be prepared. Also suggestions for disaster management and response organizations that will take citizen volunteers. Seeing how to react to different kinds of disasters that impact individual parts of the country.
Maybe some bit(s) on what "being prepared" for natural disasters really means. Like "okay you've got less than $200, here's what you absolutely need..." type thing to make it less overwhelming.

If you haven’t already, could you please speak to what the process is for deployment of FEMA following a natural disaster? I feel like not enough people, including myself, actually understand how that works. Which then leads to misinformation like we experienced last year with NC.

I was just a moment ago (after reading one of your other posts re: clarifying NWS's actions taken prior to the Texas flooding) thinking that probably so many people still don't really understand how the fed <> state <> local relationship is supposed to work in our line of work (EM).
I'm super grateful that I live somewhere that already has community support semi organized after last year's hurricanes, and everyone is getting ready for this year. I know we might not get the same amount of warning as we're used to now.
And Doge has gutted FEMA. And no funding for FEMA in trump bill. Do WV and Kentucky know this???
Anything the Alt network can periodically suggest to help people stick together as the police state ramps up.The key to clawing this back will be community despite human nature to recede. Their cult continues to metastasize despite our thinking it couldn’t.To counter we need to be large and visible.

Thanks. Appreciate the Alts willing to stay engaged. The clarity on the various Alt subjects ie FEMA (as disasters unfold) does help. And then leveraging the network for the macro level stick-togetherness. I borrow from the Brazilians that built a diverse coalition “No one lets go of anyone’s hand.’
I had an epiphany last night. If we are so over run by brown skinned rapists and murders, why are serial killers and serial rapists in true crime shows are overwhelmingly white males. So who should we be scared of exactly?
What are programs that can highlight FEMA?
Wondering…my FEMA app has been great at warning me about severe weather. Also great checking and notifying me about my case. Any concept of what will happen with this app? Btw… if people have never dealt with FEMA after a disaster they are (were?) the best, fastest, kindest people agency.
Not sure on FEMA APP the good news it’s still working (we rely on it too). But it could be the contract isn’t expired yet. But, when Cam Hamilton was here the big priority was to make registration etc easier and more transparent for individuals to apply for and track their assistance.
If we aren’t dissolved it seems logical they would build upon the app. Good topic to research.
