Young people in cities aren’t voting for socialism, they’re voting for something better than whatever leads to $29 sandwiches and the monetary feudalism of the current system, according to Garrett Baldwin themoneyprinter.substack.com/p/you-didnt-... You Didn’t Kill Capitalism. The Fed Did.

This is it. No one cares what the system is so long as it works for them. You can decry a socialist, but in reality it’s a result of ignoring the issues that got us here. Trump is partially a result of middle American hollowed out grievance. ZM is a result of ignoring exacerbated wealth inequality.

This is 100% correct. And anybody born after about 1982 didn’t grow up in a world where Cold War era economic terms have the same meanings they do for GenX and older. Socialism to them is Sweden not Cuba.

I understand the argument being made, and I believe Martin Wolf once explained it more clearly—but you’ll never convince me that the Fed isn’t the big swinging dick of capitalism.

From afar I think of the Montgomery Brewster and his “None of the Above” campaign.

Do you believe that the Fed is causing people to buy $29 sandwiches? How about substituting until the price comes down?

The price won’t come down

In a City where lunch costs $29, is a $30 per hour minimum wage really that extreme? If your first hour of work everyday is devoted to just feeding yourself lunch, then the rest of the morning is probably devoted to putting dinner on the table. God only knows how you’re supposed to pay the rent.
