I love renewables but these huge , black solar farms freak me out .The space they take & the heat they absorb must be off the charts?! I guess in a desert isn’t so bad ? Floating in the ocean like in China is weird. We need buildings to be retrofitted & new buildings to have solar as a requirement.

Federal government should implement solar roof tile program across Canada - so every home can benefit when it comes time to replace the roof shingles - AND feed it into a national energy grid.

Yes, and it's primarily due to energy companies wanting a monopoly on the market rather than having each building become self-sufficient. Still better than a coal-fired power station or industrial area though.

Those solar farms could also double as actual farms too. For example you could fence the entire thing and have a massive free range chicken coup, or plant thousands of flowers to sell and install beehives for honey production, perhaps have vineyards and whatever else is feasible...

You make a good point. They don’t block all the light & there’s tons of stuff that could grow . Edibles 👍

Even the shaded areas could be used to grow 1001 things such as indoor and garden plants that require shady areas...

I totally agree with you . I hope that our recycling/ recovery technology can keep pace to make everything more environmentally friendly asap.
