Also it's not even true that it was in response to the covid vaccine. Vaccine skepticism had been rising for years and anti-vaccine groups were ready to pounce. Social scientists knew about it and warned about it! COVID was just the opportunity!

That's certainly my recollection of the vaccine rollout. You could see it coming, especially after Biden took office.
