Only the judicial system can find guilt and impose a penalty if found guilty. Law enforcement arrest people they believe committed a crime. Prosecutors decide if they will be charged & PROSECUTE. The person charged has the right to a defense. A Judge/jury decide guilt. @theromanoreport.bsky.social
The average layperson has a sense of right and wrong, however distorted and weighted by peer group pressure it may be. The so-called leaders, be they political or social, need to have some basic level of understanding about how and why law operates the way it does.
Yeah Im not expecting a politician to be a legal scholar. But they should have a basic understanding, at least HS civics level, of how our government works and the basics of the legal system. Especially at the level of governor.
