Hi, Johnny! Additional credit: The other day @readyreaderone.bsky.social posted an Arrows song, which sent me into their albums.
I need your opinion, Chris!
I have one opinion left 🙂
Dare I ask? 🤣
Whoops, if you're asking about The Arrows, I may have missed the point . . .
I was, but I'll take that Left Banke compliment any day of the week 💙
Re: Arrows - Alan Merrill seems to be the driving creative force, and it's clear he understood the power of a two-guitars-bass-and-drums ensemble. As a singer, he was definitely friends with the microphone. Swoon-inducing, as you noted.
Spot-on, especially the "friends with the microphone" thing. They could have been bigger, if not for their label screwing them over, which happened a lot back then and I'm sure it continues today.
We were never close to a contract, but the thinking in Nashville was, "the first offer you simply accept. If you get offered a renewal, THEN your manager can negotiate." There were a lot of creative legal minds dedicated to shaving off a few cents more profit for the labels that invested in artists.
Spot on yourself! Alan Merrill should have and could have made it huge he had the songwriting musicianship amazing voice and handsome face. He should have been MASSIVE. but a whole chain of circumstances beyond his control robbed him
I recognize your name from the Alan Merrill Facebook group so I know you know what you're talking about 💙
Alan Merrill was the absolute creative force in the Arrows. After their chart success was over they were joined for series 2 of their show by Terry Taylor who brought a new dimension and great creative input. but that material didnt get released for many years. Jake Hooker brought nothing
Here you go: Rhonda is one of the top 10 #earworm excavators on BlueSky. And she knows her Left Banke!
How sweet are you? 😍
She’s got it going on 🤙
