I think the advantage of the mRNA vaccines was that they were able to be developed much faster than traditional vaccines. In the event of another pandemic of some sort, which is eventually inevitable, it is good to have ongoing research.
They were the only option that could conceivably create a vaccine, that's why they were used. The tech has been around for a while but there's never been a desire to utilize it. With COVID, we didn't have a choice.
They were a bit faster, maybe they would be good for future pandemics. I’m not opposed to research into them generally.
