Get a day pass. Go people watch and check out the Dealers Den / Artists Alley. I know the anxiety of going to an event without knowing anyone and feeling uneasy but you can always bail and head home at any time.

when I went I only knew a handful of people, but the plus side was I got to see them all the time! so it was actually pretty cozy ^^ And downtown Ottawa is a nice location. (I'm not going this year, sadly)

Take it as a chance for a solo date. Go around explore and have your own fun. And whenever you're not feeling it you can just head back home
