The Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday, which occurs on 3/5/25. I’m narrowing down what I plan to do/give up. If you are commenting with a sincere heart, the I’d love to hear suggestions on what I could/should do for Lent. Thank you!

I'm going to limit my time online to 15 minutes daily with trusted sources. While I think we all need to be informed, at some point it's more vitriol than informative. I don't like how I react to a lot of this information. If Lent is going to be a time of renewal, it won't happen for me online.
Excellent points, Michael! Thank you. Best wishes to you.
Agree. Hard to picture renewal happening on line, for anyone.
I'm considering giving up alcohol. Or giving up laziness, requiring at least 20 min run or swim or bike every day
I think both of those are very admirable, Andy!!
Last year I made a point of daily self-reflection that I enforced by writing it down every evening. It was something that brought me peace and I still do.
I was thinking about your idea here and I’m tossing around the idea of a “Gratitude Journal”. A daily entry about something I’m thankful for and then reflecting on that. Thank you kindly, Mya!!
Excellent
I’ve come to see Lent as a way to better ourselves rather than about depriving ourselves. If there’s nothing that makes you a better person by giving that thing up (especially if you go right back to it after Lent - e.g., drinking), add something (e.g., journaling, study goals, exercise, etc.).
I appreciate this mind set. I know that I can give up things, I’ve done that for many Lents; that’s why I want something that’s on a deeper level. Thank you so much!
I figure the goal is to be closer to God, and I imagine closer to God is something along the lines of self-actualization because then, IMHO, the barriers to God would be fewer, so I try to look for barriers to remove or habits I need to create to achieve that goal. 💁🏻♀️
It makes perfect sense. Thank you so much!
Thank YOU for starting the conversation! I love these conversations, but finding a safe space for them is tough.
Indeed. 💜 I appreciate you.
Sounds like you’re leading in to Spiritual Direction .
I hope so!
