The trouble is I sort of agree. Not about the colour of skin. But about heritage. I feel (personally) that one is not really English until third generation. But British you can become in one. Grandparents have to be born in U.K. for English. It’s something about household norms and family humour.

I moved to Glasgow and haven’t had a hint of anti English sentiment. If anything the answer “to get out of England” given to the question “why’d you move to Scotland” seems quite welcome.

Honestly I’m kind of glad. I’m mixed race. Mum’s white. Dad’s black. I was born and raised here and, quite frankly, I’m embarrassed to still be English at this point. Might as well start taking it as a compliment from these demagogues.
