There was a huge march about saving the NHS, which was only reported when people all over Twitter (as it was then) were calling out the BBC and the right wing press for not reporting it at all. When these outlets were shamed into reporting it, underreporting is a good description of how they did it.

I'm pretty sure that was pre-Covid, and it was the first time I noticed this happening in the UK.

Controlling the narrative has always been the reason wealthy right wingers buy newspapers and now social media sites. The BBC was always touted as being impartial, but has always been run by right wingers. BBC news and Channel 4 news on the same night are completely different.

What is there to fight for? It's not like WW2 and even then, the US 'sold' its support for money, influence, trade etc. The only time NATO Art 5 has been invoked was when the US was attacked (9/11) and the rest of us came to their aid in Afghanistan. I've never believed the US would do the same...
