Covering the small boats 'deal' without referencing Macron's irrefutably accurate observation that blame for the 'crisis' lies with Brexit involves contortions so violent that the people doing it should be in a circus.

You must be working for Russia you know Brexit was all Russia and the U.S. through Steve Bannon
I’ll be listening. The Fagash Fuhrer was out pointing at France again yesterday, yet he probably drinks the best French wine when he isn’t pretending to drink beer. Farage is a one trick pony, hopefully voters will see through this soon?
They should be in a circus anyway, fucking clowns.
Tell Fagarage to Fuck off along with his stupid patheti Reform party full of ex conservative wannabes!!
Or referencing the point that this approach will require a safe route and associated checks to be set up in France which is what is needed not only in France but closer to asylum seekers points of departure
A Brexiteer trying to explain anything.
Small boat commentators don’t care about truth or fact.
Blame Frogage and BOJO for feeding the Gammons an endless sea of lies and they soaked it up , traitors both of them and their backers .
It was a foreseen Brexit bonus. Ironic really
Yeah, but Chris Philps on SkyNews this morning took the biscuit by referencing Macron’s Brexit comment as an attempt to *malign the democratic decision made by the British people*.🙄
Brexit benefits ?
They are.
I believe Farage & Co called it 'project fear'.
Ah here we go- Arron Banks, Leave.EU co-founder, said: "Having failed to deliver the fundamental reform of the European Union that he promised in his Bloomberg speech, the Prime Minister is now resorting to scaremongering."
Always reliable Davie D- David Davis, the Eurosceptic Tory MP, said: “As the argument slips away from the Remain campaign they are forced to rely on desperate scaremongering."
Small boat crossings up 15,000% since Brexit. About the same as Farrige's bank balance.
Yes, Fatage is reaping it in. Will he retire soon?
Farage is looking for an EU Pension , the cheek !
He did nothing. Couldn't be bothered to show up. He's done nothing his entire life. Lazy, lying grifter.
The EU should tell him to fuck off, and after he’s sued them, they should employ whoever is handling the Post Office Horizon compensation scheme payments.
EU pensions for MEPs are paid by the State they represent
You’re missing the point that the Gov could open all routes for travel by asylum seekers (e.g. planes, ferries), or allow applications in other countries via embassies (not always safe i realise), but they choose not to do so. That’s zip to do with Brexit, it’s about being scared of Reform…
Well said
Don’t be surprised if EU criticism of Brexit heightens. Out of the EU and with feeble politicians in office - and monstrous politicians standing in the wings - the UK becomes a possible security threat. The EU must plan for the collapse of NATO. Outside the EU, the UK becomes a security concern
Yes, it must trouble them in Paris and Berlin that not too many years from now a man could well be UK Prime Minister who has had close relations with Russia in the past, was involved in nefarious Russian-funded activities and is close to corrupt Trump circles. But not as much as it troubles us.
It is a serious threat. Farage would be delighted to become Americas Belarus
The UK will join America as puppets in Putin's new Warsaw pact.
👍
Ballance and impartiality (Despite autocorrect's near heroic efforts to turn that into 'balls once impracticality' which to be honest is better)
Yes
And the people responsible for the big lie should be in somewhere, shall we say, more secure ...
And when someone does mention it they are told to stop living in the past and to get over it yet those same people will gladly bring up Brown selling gold 25 years ago.
Don't look up!
James, small boats - A bonfire in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland with an effigy of refugees in a boat on top of it was lit on Thursday night in Moygashel. - Discuss?
Terrorists, just like the ruzzians. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
😂
I like Scaramucci's phrase: people bending themselves into a pretzel..
One of the few, if only, ex-Trump staffers to come out of there with reputation enhanced.
State of UK politics. #Distraction Media obsessed with refugees while ignoring joint declaration on nuclear weapons .
Oh yes!
Cirque du Télégraphe?
He had a really somber mood about him because of it I think. His whole point was that we just have no choice but to work with each other or fail fending for ourselves. One important sentence of him that we also heard from Iranians just a week ago: We want to cooperate [with US] but not to depend.
The Sun went with Gino d’grope o buggering off to Australia, that’s how disgusted they were
Tories removed all safe routes into the UK. And the small boats crisis has always been exaggerated.
Fitting, considering Brexit was done by clowns.
Loved Macrons take on it. It must be obvious now, even to the most ardent brexiteer, that it has been a disaster. If we want growth, we must align ourselves with the EU. Now is the time for open honest discussion.
It’s such a shame the French President has to point out the obvious because our media refuses to report it!
'Nigel farage loses it' is not exactly news, is it?
It is to Express readers
#traitorFarage that brought you #BrexistShambles with his lies & political cheating, selling out the UK to his foreign mates, put #traitorJohnson in No.10 to ensure the worst Brexit for the UK... That Chameleon is now up in arms, apparently due to all the small boats that he is responsible for 🤔
The presenter the size of a small dinghy sets the news agenda for LBC every morning. Until Nick Ferrari sustains a puncture, Brexit, small boats, gotcha moments with ministers, love-ins with Nigel, will continue to pollute the airwaves.
They are.
All these people trying to pick a fight with France for daring to state the obvious — that Brexit broke our border cooperation — are the same ones who lit the fire and now blame the smoke. Why do our media always side with angry, nasty, spoiled, stupid people?
Because it sells papers
Home-Owner-Ism means that bigoted exurban boomers have disproportionate purchasing power, and thus disproportionate attractiveness to advertisers.
Because they’re part of the problem imo. Much of our press owned by non tax paying billionaires not living in this country 🤔
Because a lot of our media are of the same ilk or at least most of the rich owners of media outlets are
Exactly. Our media doesn’t just reflect elite interests — it shapes public confusion to protect them. Blame foreigners, blame the poor, blame protestors… Anything to stop people realising who actually broke the system — and who keeps it broken.
And, Farage proving once again in PMQ's that he is still a one trick pony with barely a frail grasp on the big picture.
Yes, Farage is desperate to exaggerate and exploit and squeeze every drop pout of the issue. Because if genuine asylum seekers can now apply safely from France — and small boat crossings start to fall — then his entire narrative collapses. He needs chaos. Starmer just started fixing it.
To be fair, prior to brezzit our border 'cooperation' with france was almost non existent anyway due to the charlatans we had in charge and the somewhat charlatans in charge in france. The Dublin agreement was almost never put to use but that was a 'choice' imo rather than a fait a complis
Because they're all on the take...
They like to back the majority, and most people are most of those things.
Nah. The sheep are in the majority. Always were, always will be.
Three words: Right-wing Media.
Vive La France 🇲🇫
The Auld Alliance 🏴🇫🇷
Rather associate myself with 🇫🇷 than 🇬🇧 🏴🏴🏴♥️
Bien sur👍
They can certainly get up themselves
It's been a long time coming. Glad Macron said it.
The EU drowns people in the Mediterranean
Loyalists version of Tory Slogan, showing their, “Love thy Neighbour “ Tory’s would be proud! Wonder if they know it was the Pope who instructed them to burn fires? Their forefathers started KKK, that’s why they are called a Clan !!
An important aside: Backin the 70s I had a Xmas annual for the Beano or Dandy (or whatever) featuring a strip about a circus troupe. The lady contortionist went by the name of Legs Akimbo. 😁
The should probably also have their accreditation as journalists removed.
GB news should be taken off the air under the trade descriptions act.
The French Government had suggested to the Conservative Unionist Party in Government. That they would build an Asylum Center with Staff Quarters for British Home Office staff. At their Taxpayers Expence. Rejected out of hand By Boris Johnson and his entire cabinet. They also closed the Safe Routes
A very coordinated speech. Macron says what both think but starmer cannot say.Yet. a small chink in the door. A way forward paved. All the right people stirred.
It's a sad state of affairs when it takes a foreign leader to have the balls to speak the obvious truth.
They couldn't have known he was going to say it as it is 😅 We don't tell the truth in our media today. Oh no, we lie all the time about everything. One could mistake Britain for America. Keep a close eye on Starmer if he starts to turn orange, we're in big trouble 😵💫
The UK will be getting their own Trump. But they will smell of fag-ash and stale piss.
Over my dead body
True! The BBC is probably about to set up a Glastonbury-style review, which will conclude that 'high risk' leaders of other countries cannot be broadcast live, in case they speak the truth on air. Well said President Macron, upsetting all the right people. 👏👏👏
Bloody french, coming over here, pointing out our policy errors with accurate observations.
Yeh. You can prove anything with facts.
Taxi driver argument 👍🏻 m.youtube.com/watch?v=4n-U...
I never claimed to be original.
Not I. The structure of the post you responded to was clearly written in the style of Mr Lee.
From USA here. There is a large portion of our citizens that won’t accept facts, unfortunately .
It sounds like they should go on a fact hunt.
Aren’t they led by one?
😂
Not just the USA, but it’s quite acute there. The people you speak of are close to being *unable* to accept facts. Beliefs have been elevated and protected.
People mistake the fact of their belief in myths for believing the myths are factual truth. It's not rocket surgery.
That will bite them in the arse.
It already has, but they haven’t realized it yet. This president and republican congress are actively taking away their safety nets.
Yes, and the reps aren't stupid either .. most stuff not kicking in until after the midterms. That's one to get the word out about.
And they will just blame HRC and/or Obama and/or Biden when it does. "No one ever lost a dollar underestimating the American public" is a truism that unfortunately many Americans are deeply committed to proving over and over.
Ah but apparently we’ve had enough of experts 🤔
We have. And facts. Especially facts we have to act upon.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 le cheek of them!!!
Oh James, you know as well as I that if only Brexit was done correctly…
Yes, it didn't get a mention on #bbcbreakfast funnily enough.
James. You are falling into the same trap that you fall into most times that you comment on such matters as this. You have to accept that the politicians at either extreme can say whatever they want on any subject, because the people they are speaking to do not look deeper than a headline.
Starmer's Labour Party was formed to support the rights of workers and underprivileged, it's turning into the Conservative Tories.
USA, + Buddies stop interfering in other countries for your gain + control of foreign wealth , the Colonialists mindset is still alive ! It's your fault that there's a refugee/ migrant situation You are complicite!
Time to have Farage back on the show🤔
A circus? They kind of are. Clowns, and not funny ones.
"Is that some form of Human Centipede?" "No, that's the Labour Party. We call it the Human Pretzel."
It literally destroys their taking back control of our borders narrative so not surprised steam is coming out of their ears.
I'd love to know why the "small boats" issue is top of the BBC news... in Scotland.
The last time a small boat was noted in Scotland was about 280 years ago when it juked in and out of the western isles with some Italian guy on board.
Are the vikings making a return?
They're on their way
At last some meaningful collaboration..
But, but, but Farage said that Brexit would be great for England! Farage - "I never said that at all, in fact I was very very quite on the whole Brexit thing. And I'll sue anybody that says otherwise". "Besides it's all the governments fault anyway".
And yet Labour on Brexit :
Think they're that violent the circus performers would wince, James!
clowns
You made a good point about the slanted BBC’s news online output. It needs repeating widely and often. It’s very worrying.
That would doubtless be a FLEE Circus 😉
Starmer had plenty to say about kneecap waving a flag and not being allowed play Glastonbury. He’s weirdly and predictably silent on effigies of migrants in boats, being burned by actual terrorists in the north of Ireland though. Isn’t that odd? bsky.app/profile/thej...
What else would you expect from spineless Starmer.
The only type of solution that is going to work is a network of European processing centres that are in the border countries. Apply there, and if they have a legit claim for asylum, then based on an agreed scoring framework (language, family support etc), the most appropriate country is determined.
Those who don't have a legit claim can also apply there to see if any countries have a need for their skills/abilities. That way, anyone past the border countries can be immediately processed as someone who has no legit claim/was trying to circumvent controls and be deported.
But that requires international co-operation and for us to fund it fairly, without threatening to pull support for political leverage. That's something many on the right have consistently demonstrated they are incapable of, or unwilling to do.
What and give up their Trump card of "throwing their toys out of the pram"
Exactly.
Macron's observation is critical here because it's a recognition of the underlying issue. The current migration can not be handled sensitively or successfully without it being grounded in international and cross-border co-operation. Brexit is the antithesis of that, and it is doomed to fail.
But then, it would be fair to argue that's precisely what they want. They don't want to solve immigration. They need it to be a bogeyman to cover for their other policies which no one in their right mind – unless stuck in a crab mentality – would vote for.
All that (sensible!) international cooperation you suggest could extend to countering the original reasons people decide to up sticks from all they know and No chance so long as aid budgets are cut and national interests come first (even within the EU!) mean such cooperation is unlikely
There would still be many economic migrants - of course. A world that is wired together where there are communities in every wealthy country will never lose those And not all problems driving poeple to leave home have a solution - but we could do better
That’s not the only reason they should be in a circus James…🤡
They don't like it up 'em, sir.
I never heard a better excuse than Mrs May's 'The Will of the People' It is a ns never was Labours fault.
Another case of leave voters unable to accept the consequences of their decision; the most vocal small boat critics are the ones who ed for leave.
I try to say the same, just look at the years be4 then, now its blatantly obvious. As part of Europe, France did stop most, after, they stood bk and said, not our problem.
Spot on James ‼️
It's a good excuse for the usual right wing suspects to be rude about the French of course. And a growing portion of our population seem to lap it up.
and to mewl about Macron’s majority.
Holding on to the carcass of the lie is like holding on to a litre of poison that’s in a rapidly disintegrating vessel with no gloves on and whilst standing barefoot on your favourite rug.
🎯 absolutely James
Until you can get through to the thick, gammon munching crowd that you cannot just torpedo these boats of vulnerable people or just dump them back on a french beach, no deal will ever be good enough.
Oi it’s just gammon - that’s not fair on gammon munchers. A top 3 roast meat easy! Very accurate observation however.
The irony being that as an EU MEMBER, immigration stopped at the first point of call and didn't 'lily-pad' hop to the next country. Farage and Johnson lied their BALLS OFF for Brexit. I wonder how much they were paid to fuck up our country?
Maybe we should cut them off. Literally.
Thrice failed businessman and now senior Tory claiming crossings up by 40…… or…. 50% and that Rwanda would have worked. No real kickback from Radio 4 interviewer.
If we stop supplying weapons and bombs to the MiddleEast this sh** just might stop!....
We should supply them to the Palestinians, Jordan Iran and Syria. Give Netenyahu something to think about.
Trump does 'deals', we do strategies in partnership with our allies.
We could do worse than having Macron as PM, suck that one up Farige
It's my understanding that they are....
C4 news did cover it all last night. Knew at the time that the majority of others would not.
