The man has two brains. He plans almost every pause, comma, audible semicolon and sideways glance.
Saw him at the Playhouse in Leeds back in May. Absolutely knocked it out of the park, as he always does, delivered in his inimitable comedian-constantly-disappointed-in-his-own-audience style. Will be seeing him again at the beginning of November when the tour circles back through Harrogate.
Stewart Lee is a genius, his stories are exceptional in their construction, he's fascinating to watch and always the best laughs. In a class of his own.
Saw him there last week and yes, fantastic.
He was involved in the building of canyon rope bridges in the 80’s, masterful work.
Going tonight, can't wait.
Stewart Lee is a genius with his social commentary 👏
"How about that for unprecedented penetration of the rust belt."
I sometimes amuse myself by imagining what moments in the show Stew chuckles to as he listens along while driving to his next tour date in his tiny renault twizy.
Stewart Lee seriously makes me laugh out loud, and not many can do that. Notwithstanding, Donald Trump, Darren Grimes and Nick Abbot. The two former, I laugh at, the latter, with.
He’s not on Blue sky. Wish he was. We love him here in Norwich.
He’s not on any social media and spotted the perils of SM early on. We should have listened! His monthly email is worth subscribing to, if you don’t already.
Thanks. You’re right- he’s not a social media kind of guy!
I seriously fear for him, cavorting around in that doubtless heavy costume.
Gosh, we saw him in Feb and he looked hot it in then, I can’t even imagine this week
‘Get in the sea!’
Of course you loved it, Metropolitan Liberal Elite that you are 😉
Lee is best seen dubbed into Romanian with Bulgarian subtitles.
MAGA and ICE are the new Nazis
... and make me a f**king sandwich.
Seeing him in September, can't wait.
He's excellent. The only thing I miss about UK is regular top tier comedy and the football... that's it.
Can't imagine why the Tory BBC high command doesn't commission more programmes from him..... oh yes, being funny and talking truth to power not popular now.
He would do shows like HIGNFY but its beneath him really
Suck my cock wipe my arse and make me a sandwich
You have to pay extra for this on RyanAir - certainly for the sandwich.
The American stand up comic routine is fabulous
Saw him once.... left depressed. Not funny.
You need your giggling pin adjusting. It’s painless.
You may have been expecting joke-telling. He doesn't really do those. He's more of a "someone you ought to see" guy.
He was on with a lot of folks....charity thing. Nope he was talking about his son's death. Not funny whole audience uncomfortable
I hadn't heard/can't find anything about that. Same goes for my wife 🤷🏻
And they say this is an echo chamber!
On my way to the matinee today with my 14-year-old son. I’ve recently got him into Radiohead too so I think I’ve got the key cultural icons of the last 30 years covered.
I still think this joke from last year is probably the single funniest thing he's ever said
A really really really old joke I first read it by Alan Moore, it's even older than that though
Maybe centuries old. Saw Lee last Spring, didn't occur to me till months later that I'd seen a version in Watchmen. For me personally, adding a line from the doctor *and* "good joke, that" puts the icing on the cake, twice. Thrice, even, if taken as a possible reference to letting himself go.
Quadrice, given he says it in the context of not being someone who tells jokes
I never really considered the original a joke, weirdly - quite depressing really!
that is one big jacket
Going tonight, so am very glad to hear that!
Many years ago now, but his 'Top Gear' piece is still some of his finest work.
I still love watching “the values of the car phone warehouse”
I’d have to give it to ‘coming over ‘ere.’
These days if you say you’re English!
Paul Nuttall from the UKIP’s was up there😂
You get sent to jail if you say you’re English taxi driver made me howl!
Saw him Sunday afternoon at RFH brilliant! And he loves Neolithic stone circles!!!! Woo hoo ✊️
Think you may have made his website fall over.
Looking forward to catching him later in the year....
Going to see him in September...cannot wait!
As Stewart Lee’s manager, I can assure you your cheque is in the post😉
Seeing him in November. Can't wait!!
Seeing him in Sept. Can't wait. Although last time I genuinely feared I was going to pass out from laughing so hard.
He's always brilliant, without fail.
Was it the Man-Wolf tour? Saw it at the Lowry excellent show.
This tweet just prompted me to search whether you'd done a full disclosure with Stewart Lee before.... I'm very happy to discover the answer is yes. That's my Sunday afternoon audio remedy sorted 👌
Yes and it was a good one . I've asked before on" the other place " ...I'd love to see @Jamesobrien do a Full Disclosure with Michael Sheen .
Oooo, thank you - great shout.
I'm seeing Stewart in the Autumn, & he'll probably have to rewrite the entire show by then. It was a major theme in the Basic Lee tour - the instability constantly making his observations look like old history, & since then the fluctuations have increased. The government have let themselves go.
The acoustics at the #RFH are great for music and horrible for the spoken word. The sound last night was shockingly bad — from our seats we got one word in three — and not one while he wore the wolf head…
Bleeding hot in the bar/foyer area before the show! God knows how he didn't keel over in the costume.
He mentioned you when I went to see him...
He could write jokes, but it's beneath him.
I think that’s hilarious. Maybe you don’t know why, perhaps you do
Well, Stuart Lee does that comedy, well its quite hard to explain isnt it becuase you probably wouldnt get it
It's more like Jazz really yeah
Or like a pear cider made from real pears
Yeah, Lee is more of a philosopher really, he transcends comedy. 😉
William Shatner’s really let himself go…
@mrjamesob.bsky.social Did you get a mention?
