The clincher, for me, is that what she did will be outlawed when the Renter’s Rights Bill comes in next year. It’s why the ‘didn’t break any rules’ defence falls short. Of course, Boris Johnson would have promoted her & borrowed the house for a year.

Surely Sue Gray, or her successor, should've been all over this. Check declaration of interests before assigning ministerial briefs. Was she a Starmer choice in Rayner's ministry? Or was this Angela's mistake? Angela has been more sure footed during the 1st year.

Tenants can actually use insecticide just as homeowners can & get building managers to organise pest control spray. They can ventilate premises to prevent mould & use antimould products to clear it. Landlords need to see to repairs e.g leaks etc. many problems moaned about are housekeeping problems.

Despite all the talk about lack of housing, it takes a surprisingly long time to sell an average priced property in London. People who have to sell may only be able cover vacancy costs for a few months? Bit unrealistic to make six months a vacancy requirement before re-letting without conditions.

Yep, that sounds dodgy, assuming it's true although estate agents don't want to advertise with no prospect of a sale. Still room for arguments as often landlords don't put rent up with inflation for decades. Either way, it's mute. She has resigned which arguably makes Labour's position stronger.

Resigned, and given some time to do so. Different to the other lot, yes, but still far far below acceptable from both person and party.
