'Honest Bob' Jenrick, a politician obviously & deliberately embracing xenophobia, does some weapons grade xenophobia & the BBC *apologises* for a Thought For The Day contributor calling it xenophobic. Licence fee payers need to know who makes these decisions & why. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Dr Kandiah was absolutely correct and the BBC are wrong yet again. My opinion is that Jenrick is tapping into the vast UK market for racism and xenophobia because he’s sees ugly populism as an opportunity to lead the Tory party, just like Johnson when he saw Brexit as his opportunity.

We all know the answer to this … The BBC’s definition of impartiality is that it cannot contradict the mainstream position of a major party even when it’s clearly false or prejudiced. They have to pretend it it ok and can only invite an opposition politician to point out the obvious.

While Tories were in denial BBC had to pretend the science wasn’t there as well so they didn’t contradict them

That may well indeed be the case (often death tolls in any war are unreliable at the time?). But point remains it is not reasonable to suggest Beeb are trying to hide or downplay the number of deaths - because the source they are using, is not likely to do so (not IDF). Also same source the UN use.

Devi Shridar was hardly off air during Covid when her views on numbers were ‘acceptable’. I’m sure she’s just as right now, but what she has to say on this topic is inconvenient. People should be aware that the real number of deaths is far higher than the number that can be physically documented

Yes, it is absurd to claim all news out of BBC is worthless because of bias. But certainly anything to do with uk politics or Israel or Trump usually is. Robbie Gibb is there to ensure we never hear the full horrors of Gaza. Kuenssberg is a Tory cheerleader. Trump sane washed.
